Hi friends and students,It’s been awhile –  maybe six years. Aria here.

Perhaps you remember practicing yoga with me, prepping for childbirth, or dropping our kids off together at playdates.

I used to send out regular newsletters, but soon after my mom’s passing, moving to SD in 2019, and then the worldwide upheaval of COVID, life took me in a different direction. A writing opportunity opened and I stepped in, eventually becoming a Director of Content.

I never left yoga, coaching, teaching privately and helping families prepare for birth. But with a desk job, running a home, and raising a teenager (about to go to UCLA!), everything else shifted into more of a passion project.  And yet, the whole time, something was missing.

On the inside, I missed sharing what I love with groups of people.

On the outside, (my body) began to protest. I ached in places I’d never felt before from being frozen at a desk for 8 – 10 hours a day.

Tight shoulders?
Neck tension?
Hips?
Low back tweaks?I feel you. I really do. 🙂

Pain and discomfort have always been great teachers of mine.

Why Daily Downdog now?
With this newly re-lived perspective on how hard a desk job can be on the body, I began to alternate supportive practices alongside my roots of breath, meditation, and movement.
I’ve also rebranded, from Yoga with Aria, to Daily Downdog: Real Yoga for Real Life, a space to recommit to the elements that help you feel grounded, resilient and at home in your body, no matter your lifestyle.

Thanks for reading. I’ll be sending out another email soon, with an invitation for you.

Some ideas I’m exploring:
Return to Practice: Getting Back Into Yoga After a Break
Yoga for Stiff Bodies: Yoga for People Who Aren’t Flexible
Back to Basics: Beginner Yoga for Everyday Movement

I’d love to know: Are you still practicing yoga these days? What’s been working for you?

I wish you all the best, in all ways.

With Gratitude,
  Aria
