Have you ever heard of heel drops? I first learned this simple technique through my Qi Gong practice. Not only do heel drops discharge old energy, circulate Qi (energy) in the body, and make you feel renewed and refreshed, they are also re-align your spine. Think of them as an automatic chiropractic self-adjustment!

While the benefits of heel drops in Qi Gong may not be extensively documented, they have several major benefits:

  1. Bone Health: Heel drops can help improve bone mineral density, particularly in the spine and hip, potentially reducing the risk of conditions like osteoporosis.
  2. Pain Relief: Practicing heel drops may alleviate pain in the feet, ankles, and lower legs, as well as help with conditions like plantar fasciitis, burning feet, cold feet, flat feet, heel pain, and restless legs.
  3. Improved Balance and Posture: By engaging the muscles around the ankles, calves, and lower legs, heel drops can contribute to better balance and posture, reducing the risk of injury.
  4. Energy Flow: In the context of Qi Gong, heel drops may improve the energy flow through the heel area and associated meridians, potentially relieving pain and promoting overall health.
